After 3 years of touring and building extensive regional networks, I wish to update you on what 2025 holds for us. We are immensely proud of what we have achieved in this time with our initial seed funding from Create NSW. We have been able to tour exceptional artists in regional NSW, expanding their reach well beyond regional centres. To enable this, we’ve connected with a huge variety of enthusiastic regional partners.

We are now planning ahead towards a sustainable future for the organisation, transitioning to a model less reliant on government funding. This will see us developing more philanthropic support in order to continue our tours, including our community work which forms an integral part of our program.

In order to do this, Music in the Regions will be taking a short break from touring during the first quarter of 2025 to focus on planning and charting our future program. 2025 and 2026 will see us try some fresh models of working closely with other organisations to offer support. We’re particularly excited to be trying out some new ways of doing this. During this transition time, the Board will be taking a hands-on approach working alongside casual staff.

Our aim is to ensure that we foster a long-term organisational future in order to support our partner organisations and artists, and to keep developing further pathways in regional touring. We expect to have a clearer picture of what this will look like very soon and look forward to connecting with our regional partners in the near future.

We will be in contact with you in January 2025 to discuss future collaborations and start thinking about 2026. We also look forward to announcing our first tour of 2025 in the new year.

For now, we thank you for your generous support, be it as an audience member, artist or community partner. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season.

The Honourable Don Harwin GAICD
